As I write today's blog post, there's one week to go until we present 'Dancing on Rainbows'! At this point, the routines are practised and we're just about as prepared as we can be for our first show.
This past week at classes, I've been pleased to hear our dancers say they're feeling confident and excited. I'm incredibly proud of how much they've put into this, not only giving their best effort in classes but also practising at home, asking for sponsors, and just their wonderful enthusiasm! I really couldn't have wanted any more from them.
This is the first proper show of any kind for lots of our dancers. For these children who spent a significant portion of their young lives in lockdown, getting up to perform on stage is a huge achievement and the result of lots of development in their confidence, resilience and social skills. I've seen so much progress in all our dancers from where they started.
My most favourite part has definitely been seeing our little community really come together. We've had so much support from our dancers' families and I know they're just as excited as we are! Seeing everyone together for the first time next week will be so special. As I've said to our dancers, it will be a celebration of their achievements rather than a big scary show!
Using our love of dance to raise money for Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity has focused our dancers even more. Having this charity as the purpose of our show has really motivated us to do our very best.
I really have loved this whole process and although I'm super-excited to see the show come to life next week, I know I'll be a bit sad when it's over! Hopefully, this will just be the first of many more shows to come.
Let's go dancers!
