Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of running a dance session in collaboration with the fab charity Dads Rock!
Dads Rock provides various groups and services with the aim of inspiring dads and families, and ultimately improving outcomes for children. They invited me along to one of their playgroups at Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre for an hour of dancing fun!
For me, one-off sessions like this are exciting in terms of being something different to my usual weekly classes, but there's also a bit of uncertainty not knowing exactly what to expect. I tend to dramatically over-plan, to try and ensure I'm prepared for any eventuality!
In the lovely bright hall at the centre, I was delighted to see such a brilliant turnout which included a couple of familiar faces! I assured the grown ups it wasn't compulsory for them to join in, but was so impressed that every single one of them did! Their enthusiasm and encouragement of their little ones made for such a brilliant session.
All of the grown ups and children threw themselves into all the activities and games. For me the best part was glancing around and seeing a room full of smiles and laughter as grown ups and children bonded through dance.
All in all, a truly lovely, joy-filled hour of dancing! If you're interested in finding out more about Dads Rock do take a look at their website
